VR - Virtual Reality

''Virtual reality is the term used to describe a three-dimensional, computer generated environment which can be explored and interacted with by a person. That person becomes part of this virtual world or is immersed within this environment and whilst there, is able to manipulate objects or perform a series of actions.'' (Virtual Reality Society, 2017, https://www.vrs.org.uk/virtual-reality/what-is-virtual-reality.html)
Basically, virtual reality enables you to enter an imaginary world, in which even you can bring to your class for your students to experience learning in a completely different manner. I do agree that there are quite expensive ones which might not be affordable; however, there are also cheap ones (such as the one above) which provides an opportunity to experience VR by using a smartphone with downloaded apps such as Cardboard, Full Dive VR etc. As provided by the second image (the one at the bottom), simply by placing your phone in front of the glasses, you can literally feel like you're a part of that world. When using these VR glasses in your teaching, you may face a few difficulties, such as not having a sufficient amount of glasses for all of the students. However, I'm sure that you are well aware of the fact that we live in an age that technology is the prime of. Thus, I believe that you will tackle any obstacle that might come your way while trying to use VR for the sake of your students.

Significance of this blog

Art is defined as 'the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination...' by Oxford Dictionaries. Thus, taking this definition of the word art into account, it is apparent that teaching isn't about giving instructions but rather the way one is capable of producing art while doing it, especially in the field of ELT. reference:en.oxforddictionaries.com Links to other blogs related to ELT: http://eltuptodate.blogspot.com/ https://elteachershub.blogspot.com/ https://backtotheelt.blogspot.com/ https://teacherinprogression.blogspot.com https://asyoulikelt.blogspot.com
