QR Code

This QR Code allows you to access a youtube video about awareness of humans effects on the environment. This can be an easy access for students by scanning this code, watching a video and preparing ideas for a class discussion. By using QR Codes your students can save heaps of time and actually work on the task given to them, instead of wasting time.

Duolingo

Duolingo is another popular language learning app and it is the most downloaded one in the world so far. It offers 85 different courses in 24 languages. Gamification is poured into each lesson; your hearts keep your lesson alive and when you answer incorrectly, you lose a heart. If you run out of hearts, you simply just start over again. There's a streak count to motivate you to stay on track by displaying the number of days you spent learning a language in a row. It has in-lesson grading so you can immediately see if your answers are correct or not. Each lesson includes a variety of skills such as speaking, listening and translation etc. with multiple choice challenges. Additionally, it can be easily used in schools as thousands of teachers are already using it for their students' development.

Mondly

Mondly is a language learning app that enables users to learn 33 languages for free and it is used by 40 million people in over 190 countries.  The 33 languages are British English, American English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Greek, Romanian, Afrikaans, Croatian, Polish, Bulgarian, Czech, Hungarian, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Hindi, Indonesian. There is the free content and the premium content of Mondly. The free content is obviously much more limited compared to the premium one as you don't have to pay money; however, there is still enough content for you to be  able to the basic vocabulary of any of the listed languages. Personally, I would only recommend Mondly for vocabulary learning unless you decide to get the premium version of the app, which also includes the grammatical aspect of language.

Thinglink

Thinglink enabled me to create links related to Shakespeare's five most prolific tragedies; Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth in a single post. This will allow students to have quick access to these plays in a single post that is an interactive image which provides basic information about them. The link is below: https://www.thinglink.com/scene/1189250669056360450

Mind Meister

I used Mind Meister to assist me in making a mind map that has all the terms that is related to a 'task'. This mind map will be useful for prospective teachers while designing a task for task-based learning. Also, the link is below too in case you would like to access the website: https://www.mindmeister.com/1273360467/task

Canva

I used canva to create a poster for students at lower levels of proficiency to display past-perfect tense, as it is quite difficult for some students to understand this grammar tense and it would be of great assistance for them to see the timeline of the tense in a visual manner. Basically, this poster can be printed out and hung in the class for this purpose. You can use canva to create the other needs of your students as posters too to use as visual aids in the class.

Quizlet

I designed a vocabulary practice for advance adjectives, which can be used by upper-intermediate students to get better accustomed with advance adjectives for improvement and advanced students to revise their vocabulary learning. These advanced adjectives can be practiced to replace everyday, common words which will especially be useful for writing purposes/tasks Link is below: https://quizlet.com/407561199/vocabulary-practice-advanced-adjectives-flash-cards/

Gamification - Video Games

There are many misconceptions about video games such as children becoming more violent because of all the violence related concepts that they have. Even though it has been proven that it does make people more prone to violence, it is only a really small percentage. Despite this negative influence, it has been evident that video games do indeed have benefits as well such as coordination skills and decision making. Gamification can also be used in classrooms to keep the students engaged and enthusiastic to participate in the learning activies. It is clear to say that millenials carry a cavalier attitude and that they look down upon learning resources. At least through the use of games, they will be more eager about their own learning process. Gamification is an integration of game mechanics and training content striving for learning outcomes. For instance, it is also used in the medical field for prospective surgeons. Thus, game-based learning activates cognitive learning by the s

VR - Virtual Reality

''Virtual reality is the term used to describe a three-dimensional, computer generated environment which can be explored and interacted with by a person. That person becomes part of this virtual world or is immersed within this environment and whilst there, is able to manipulate objects or perform a series of actions.'' (Virtual Reality Society, 2017, https://www.vrs.org.uk/virtual-reality/what-is-virtual-reality.html) Basically, virtual reality enables you to enter an imaginary world, in which even you can bring to your class for your students to experience learning in a completely different manner. I do agree that there are quite expensive ones which might not be affordable; however, there are also cheap ones (such as the one above) which provides an opportunity to experience VR by using a smartphone with downloaded apps such as Cardboard, Full Dive VR etc. As provided by the second image (the one at the bottom), simply by placing your phone in front of t

Second Life - Education

Second Life is a virtual world that can also be used for educational purposes too. It gives us an opportunity to join interactive classes and visit international education related centers such as erasmus office, where you are able to gain information really quickly about it and the things it provides for you. With the interactive, online classes, you are able to join them from anywhere in the world and all you need is access to internet. It has also been shown that in these classes as students are less anxious they are more willing to participate in the class since it's only a virtual world, even though technically it is representing everyone from the real world.

Second Life

Second Life is a 3D virtual world where it is possible for you to discover new places, chat with  others and even take 'selfies' (snapshots) of your character while exploring. You can change your character's physical appearance and if you like, even have a virtual version of yourself roaming in this land of creativity. I preferred to choose a default avatar as I thought her style was pretty elegant and my obsession with dogs made it impossible for me to want another avatar. Though, thinking of it now, her shoes are quite out-dated and maybe I could've changed them at least. Still, I recommend not to worry too much about your avatar, but instead focus on being a wanderlust and take joy in a land where you can do practically anything, even fly! There are many portals for travelling to be made easier and I selected the editor's pick as it's my first experience in this virtual world and hoped the best from it. It ended up being 1920s-1940s New York City, which

Udemy Certificate

This flipped classroom video making course is a very practival way of carrying out classroom lessons. Unfortunately, as teachers, we can have many reasons for cancelling our lessons or our lessons being cancelled. Also, compensating for these lessons are really difficult as they are simply not suitable for everyone. Therefore, flipped classrooms allow students to learn the concepts or topics theoretically and have more time for production during the lesson in the class.  This course covered a variety of ways to produce videos to be uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo, Animoto, Jing, Camtasia, Web Screencast Tools, and TED Ed. In my opinion, YouTube was the easiest to use for uploading a video and I also believe that it is the most common one used among students for different purposes such as music, documentaries etc. which they can also add learning and it would be the same act they do for their daily activities.
